Arvid Hoffmann

Professor of Marketing

  • Hello and welcome to my personal website! My name is Arvid Hoffmann and I am a Professor of Marketing at the University of Adelaide. I started my academic career at Maastricht University, where I also co-founded the Marketing-Finance Research Lab to bridge the gap between marketing theory and practice. I hold a PhD from the University of Groningen. Please download my CV for a complete overview of my experience.

My research focuses on the marketing-finance interface, with two main areas of interest, broadly relating to marketing strategy / quantitative marketing and consumer behavior. First, I aim to better understand interactions between capital and consumption markets, unraveling how a firm’s marketing actions and investments drive financial market outcomes, and vice versa. Second, I seek to improve how individuals make complex financial decisions, such as when borrowing money, investing, or planning for retirement.

I publish my research in leading academic journals, amongst others the Journal of Marketing, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, and International Journal of Research in Marketing. To disseminate my findings to society at large, I also regularly write for practitioner outlets, while my research is often covered by the media, including the New York Times, Financial Times, and CNBC. I look forward to connecting with you through LinkedIn and invite you to learn more about my citations on Google Scholar.
